Kidlington business counts on Job Fair to deliver

A Kidlington business recently experienced the real value of attending a Cherwell District Council Job Fair as a recruiting employer on their very first appearance.

In recent years, Job Fairs in Banbury and in Bicester have become a key feature of the council’s Economic Growth service, which aims to support both local businesses and jobseekers, but the fair at Exeter Hall in June 2017 was the first one to be held in Kidlington.

More than two dozen businesses registered to attend the Job Fair, which like all Cherwell District Council’s Job fairs was free to attend. Over ninety jobseekers and career changers walked through the doors and took the opportunity to meet with local employers face-to-face. For one particular business, their first participation was hugely successful.

Mike Foster and Xue LiMike Foster, Commercial Director of accountancy firm Chapman, Robinson and Moore, was delighted at the results the Job Fair produced for his business.

“We were pleased to be one of the exhibitors at the recent Job Fair in Kidlington. We always look to recruit locally and this was a great opportunity, provided by the council, to meet local people. We were delighted to have met some potential new employees and as a direct result of exhibiting, we met and offered a position to our latest trainee, Xue Li. With her current qualifications, we estimate this support saved us in the region of £2,500 in agency fees.”

2019 will see the Economic Growth Team deliver a new series of recruitment and employment support events across the district.
