Local plan delivers growth

The Cherwell Local Plan 2011-2031 was adopted in July 2015.  Since 2011, a total of 1,327 new homes were delivered in Bicester, with 371 homes delivered during 2016-17.  Large sites such as the Bicester Eco-Town, Kingsmere and Land at Talisman Road are under construction and have contributed towards the delivery of new homes.

The Graven Hill development of 1,900 homes is also under construction, and will be the largest self-build development in the UK.  At 31 March 2017 there are 3,173 homes with planning permission but not yet built. Commercial developments have commenced at Land North East of Skimmingdish Lane and Land at A41 London Road and planning permission has been given for Land at North West Bicester.

In total there are more than 145,000 sqm of commercial floorspace proposed at these sites.  In addition, a new Tesco superstore has been developed and was opened in summer 2016, and Bicester Village is being expanded to include land that was previously occupied by Tesco which is currently under construction.
