Growing your Skills

A full range of training and development opportunities are available to companies in Cherwell.

Further education and vocational development is led by Oxford and Cherwell Valley College, one of the largest FE colleges in the UK.  A full range of professional business disciplines, engineering and manufacturing skills and creative activities are available from the college.

Informal professional development, especially in areas such as ‘soft’ skills like negotiation and team working, is available from a strong network of private training providers across the area. Higher education can be sourced from Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities to the south, and Warwick and Coventry Universities to the north.

All four institutions boast highly-rated business schools; Brookes is a national leader on built environment disciplines. Oxford Brookes recently opened a new £8m state of the art environmentally innovative building which provides a complex of laboratories, lecture theatres and workshops dedicated to motorsport engineering.

Coventry has a strong medical school and Oxford has world leading expertise in materials and the life sciences.  All have well developed commercial support activities to allow business to access and engage with their research activity.

Warwick University has an acknowledged reputation for excellence in research, teaching, innovation and links with business and industry.
